Location: GTA/Toronto

Logline: A downbeat Toronto-Tamil millennial has to host her visiting cousin’s grand desire for a wild vacation, while working on how to move back out of her parents’ house.

Genre/Style: Slice-of-life dramedy, character-oriented and dialogue-driven (such as Frances Ha, Ghost World)

Creative Treatment: Slightly offbeat yet grounded in reality 90s film aesthetic. Aesthetic references: Ghost World (2001)

Art Director Responsibilities:

Concept Development: Work closely with the director and other key creative team members to understand the vision of the project. Interpret the script and conceptualize how to visually represent the story and its setting.
Cultural Accuracy: Conduct research to ensure that the designs accurately reflect the cultural context of the Diasporic Tamil characters and setting (living room) in the story.
Set Design: Create detailed designs for the set, including the layout, color schemes, and textures. Design and/or procure specific props that will be used on set.
Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including wardrobe and cinematography, to ensure that all visual elements align with the overall design vision.
Budget and Resource Management: Manage the budget for the design elements and oversee the procurement of materials and resources. Ensure designs are feasible within the financial and time constraints of the production.
Set Construction and Dressing: Execute the dressing of the set. This includes overseeing painting, arranging props, and ensuring that everything is in place before filming or performance begins.
On-Set Adjustments: During filming or performance, make adjustments to the sets or props to accommodate changes in the script, lighting, or camera angles.
Visual Continuity: Ensure the visual elements remain consistent throughout the production, maintaining continuity across different scenes and settings.
