Description:

We are seeking an independent Ontario-based Producer to plan, manage, and execute the production of a proof-of-concept for a narrative feature film.
 

Status:   Non-Union
Film Budget:   $27K

Salary for this role:   Budget Max is $4,000 (based on experience)
Funding:   Secured
Shoot dates:   Oct 26th or 27th TBD, 1-day shoot
Location:   Toronto, ON
Est. run time:   7 minutes
Genre:   Coming-of-Age, Dramedy (think Frances Ha, Tiny Furniture)
Logline:   A downbeat Toronto-Tamil millennial has to host her visiting cousin’s grand desire for a wild vacation, whilst working on how to move back out of her parents’ house.

Required experience In:

• Generating script breakdown

• Formulating budget, and monitoring spending

• Drafting and completing documents (contracts, releases, permits etc.)

• Liaising with Agents for Non-Unionized Talent (especially in regards to contracts)

• Overseeing hiring of key creatives & crew

• Navigating Canadian incorporation and tax credits

• Scheduling production timeline and keeping on-track

• Coordinating pre-production meetings

• Maintaining and updating production binder with up-to-date documents

• Obtaining production insurance

Required skills:

• Highly organized

• Attention to detail

• Ability to clearly communicate engage with a wide range of people and networks

• Negotiation skills

• Problem-solving

• Understanding the considerations around representation of minority communities on-screen and in the filmmaking process

Asset experience in:

• Offering creative feedback that supports the artistic objectives of the film

• Networking within industry

• Knowing the financing landscape and opportunities for BIPOC filmmakers in Toronto and Canada

• Creating EPK, pitching, and marketing

• Connecting with Tamil and South Asian communities and culture in Toronto

Qualifications:
Must have produced scripted narrative short films with at least one having a minimum budget of $20K, and a public exhibition in festival circuits.

​

Salary based on experience.
Work can be done remotely when possible.
